Alexa Not Ranking Your Blog Yet: Reasons and Solutions

Bloggers are almost always concerned about things like PageRank, DA (Domain Authority) etc. One such important aspect, which bloggers keenly watch is Alexa rank of their blog. Alexa is a web traffic data site. They are known to rank websites according to the traffic data that they collect. According to their ranking, a low ranked (say 900th ranked) site/blog is supposed to have more traffic than a high ranked blog (say 2,000th ranked). Here, I’ll tell you why Alexa hasn’t ranked your blog/site yet. Further, I’ll also show you how to get rid of this little issue.

Alexa Not Ranking Your Blog Yet Reasons and Solutions

Many times, it happens that you start a new blog with every intention of creating some awesome traffic stats. And Alexa rank, despite being not so reliable and perfect, is a good way to show others the popularity and traffic inflow your blog enjoys. But despite your best efforts at social media promotion and SEO (Search Engine Optimization) efforts, Alexa just wouldn’t rank your site. They would display message like- ‘Not enough data at the moment’, or similar stuff like that.
So, why hasn’t Alexa ranked your blog yet? Do they genuinely hate you and your blog? Do they feel that your blog is the least interesting place on the blogosphere? Is visiting and analyzing your blog the last thing that they would like to do? The next section will answer your question-

Reasons why Alexa hasn’t ranked your blog yet

Actually, the most common problem could be that Alexa just isn’t aware of your blog’s existence! You see, Alexa mostly depends on Toolbar’s to analyze the traffic stats of a blog/site.
They depend on the Alexa toolbars that many users have had installed on their browsers, to collect data related to blogs and sites. This is how they rank these web entities.
If your blog hasn’t been getting traffic/visitors having such toolbar, then it is hard to get noticed by Alexa. Further, another reason could be ‘crawling errors’.
Apart from the toolbars, Alexa also depends on crawler bots to have access to and analyze the stats of blogs/sites. If the server on which your blog is hosted doesn’t promote smooth crawling for such bots, then it could result in problem.

Ways to solve this issue

The first and foremost thing to do is to let Alexa know that your blog exists! For this, go to the site and enter the address of your blog. Message will be displayed that ‘enough data doesn’t exist’.
In this case, ‘claim your site’ and ‘verify the ownership’. There is a link to do this task on the site.
Doing this will make sure that Alexa is aware that such a blog exists. Further, it also makes sure that bots crawl that particular blog as early as possible.
Another strategy is to ask your friend and family members to install Alexa Toolbar on their browsers and visit your blog regularly. As mentioned before in the article, this will help Alexa get hold of your blog’s stats quite easily. The advantage of doing this procedure is that your blog’s ranking will also improve quickly!
Last but not the least, make sure that your hosting servers are crawl-friendly. See to it that the host providers are not blocking or forbidding bots from crawling your blog.

Conclusion

Personally, I’m not much interested in Alexa rank. For me, it is flawed and too easy to manipulate. With the right efforts, it is not a difficult task to improve Alexa ranking. Hope that this article will help solve your problem.
